A drama about getting old and how to deal with dying, starring Lindsay Duncan and Clarke Peters. In one of the scenes is a nod to Lester Freeman in the Wire. It has potential to be good.

I thought it was stunning.
Strange in that people who are in their 20's will have an insight into the reality of getting old.
People like me at 47 will start to see what's round the corner for them and their parents very shortly.
And older people will be months off or going through it....
Basically its not an easy watch for anyone.

We need a debate about this topic, and I thought they handled it very well, I'm guessing there will be push back and some anger at the topic driven from the weird lot who still believe in a God.

There has to be a way this can be handled properly for those that chose it.
Well worth watching.

I am afraid to say I lasted about 10 minutes.

The awful way they tried to explain away the American character and his back story was so badly acted and written I just turned it off.

Shame because I thought it was going to cover an interesting subject in an entertaining way but just that opening 10 minutes just pissed me off completely. I am too old to give my time to something as stupid as that.

If you’d lasted you’d not be of this opinion as it does cover a very interesting subject which became apparent.

Fair enough, but for me I didn't really notice any of that bit, something about SAS or whatever, I was just glad to see Lester Freamon, class actor.
I'd say its worth watching the rest though, at least give it a chance, if only for the boat scene which was astoundingly well done and how quick they managed to get me and the wife feeling like the old fella was our respective Dad.

Good grief; who thinks suffocating in a plastic bag is remotely a humane way to go? What's wrong with some barbiturates and a bottle of vodka?

This is exactly as we felt. The last significant scene of Ep1 was very well done indeed.

I've watched 4 episodes and thought it was very well done, so I'm looking forward to seeing the rest!

But then I'm heading fast towards that sort of age. frown

Our intrepid novice PC asked, "How does one person sail two boats at the same time?"

One could have been tied to the back of the other, perhaps?

This was filmed in the area near my house so lots of chat about it locally.
Glad to hear it seems to have a generally positive view from PH, I’ll give it a go.

Clarke Peters; a poor mans Morgan Freeman but very good IMO

The whole thing stank and should have been better.

Seacock above the waterline.
Why not just drown yourself and avoid jeopardising friends
Suicide ludicrous, how did Peter Egan think he was going to carry it off!
Properly jumps the shark in the hotel.

You must be near me then! I saw it being filmed in Clevedon Marine lake, positioning the cameras so it looked like they were out to sea.
