November is a nothing month. Hopefully this year we will be going away somewhere warm..
Then maybe a sneaky week mid-January.
Benefit of being retired.
My parents used to go away for the whole of February in their retirement. Mostly to South Africa.
I don’t mind the winter so long as we don’t have weeks of dreary, dank, wet weather!!!! I love cold, bright days but the last few weeks have been awful. Have just booked a couple of weeks away to warmer climes for a bit of relief, we normally ski but Mrs Blue insisted we go for warm and dry this year.
Look for the small things. Since becoming interested in gardening, I see the new bulbs poking through and the gradual brightening of the evenings. Small signs that spring isn’t all that far away.
As I’ve aged I’ve become less tolerant of the dull winter days but I try to look for positives where I can. Bright crisp winter days are something to savour and today felt like the most normal Sunday we’ve had for a long time, with a pleasant sunny walk and lunch out. It was a nice change to feel able to enjoy being outside and the prospect of spring being not too far away gives me comfort.

January is a bit of a s
te month IMO. There's a couple of family birthdays but after Christmas I find it's mostly wishing for lighter nights and longer days. Our kids are young so we don't like taking them out of school so it's not as easy to escape for a week or two as it once was. WFH helps alot I find, back in the old days it used to feel like being a vampire, dark going into work, dark coming home and not much of a chance to get much natural light in between. Now I make sure I get out for at least an hours walk a day.
I think it helps to have something planned in, whatever that is, meet friends, fitness goal etc my Mrs has a half marathon planned.

This. You have to get into the mindset that you can't change January and can't do the things (in this country) you'd do in June. So, try to find something that works for you. Try to plan a couple of back up things to do if weather is too bad, get out in the sunshine if poosible, etc. Book some holiday and go somewhere? FamousPheasant said:
I can empathise.
There is normally nothing immediately to look forward to, short days, rubbish weather.
We have taken to booking some winter sun for February to give us that light at the end of the tunnel.
Have a look at a daylight calculator, gives a bit of hope, its accelerating quickly nowThere is normally nothing immediately to look forward to, short days, rubbish weather.
