Hi All,

I’m about to buy an approved used VW that comes with 2 year warranty but I would to extend. The dealer has offered warranty extension but it is a RAC warranty. Can you extend the VW warranty either at purchase or at the end of the two years?

Cheers

I'm sure you can buy the service plan which comes with a warranty online from VW. https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/en/owners-and-service...

You can get extended warranty as lots as it's done less than 100k miles I think.

I have this on the Family Bussat. You have to take the car in for an initial inspection where they check it over before insuring and making sure it has FSH and other recommended stuff done on time such as cambelt. It's the next best thing to the new car warranty. If you can wait until the spring there's always a 25% off offer.

That's my understanding too. I've a 9 year old Golf & I've renewed the VW warranty since year 3. I've made a few successful (smallish) claims over the years too.

Thanks all, will give the RAC warranty a miss and renew VW as the two year expires

I think the VW warranty is also underwritten by an insurer, rather than direct with VW. (Although it is sold by VW, which to me is the key thumbup)

There are a lot of exclusions in the VW "All In" warranty.

I have it on my 2018 Passat, and am currently arguing with the warranty provider about whether a failed hose in the A/C system is covered. Relatively cheap part, but high labour cost as it requires the front bumper and a few other bits to be removed to get access.

Even if you value the warranty at £0, the All In package is not a terrible deal given that it includes services, MOTs and breakdown cover. But do check the warranty exclusions list and understand what the warranty does and doesn't cover.
