Third party airline booking

When the difference in price is several hundred pound is it wise to book through a third party e.g Mytrip, booking.com etc.

I’m in the mind to go through the airline themselves but it is tempting where money is tight.

Always book direct.

Since the pandemic air travel has been chaotic and changes in flights and schedules have become du jour. The recent issues with the 737 MAX9 won't have helped one bit.

I haven't had a single trip that hasn't been changed in some way since 2019. One even changed the country I was being routed though (and I'm not talking about an intra-EU flight either).

If you book with a third party the airline won't even speak to you in this event as your purchase was through the agent and chances are, the agent won't too, especially the online types.

Also the cheapest fare bucket booked through a third party are the first to get bumped... The airlines know that they'll rarely have to deal with anyone over it.

Yes if they're reputable and the price difference is significant enough, I've never had an issue.
Sure you have to deal with the agent and maybe pay some extra fees if you have to amend something but if you're saving hundreds of pounds you can just put it towards travel insurance to cover any problems.
