Apparently a simple request to transfer cash from Vanguard to another provider is beyond their current capabilities. It was requested at the start of December and they can’t find the paperwork, even though the other provider has emailed them copies twice. Hargreaves Lansdown managed the same process in five days!

So it's actually ok as long as you don't then want to take back from Vanguard to another provider as cash? With what 50m customers across the world they can't be all bad.

Have a look at their Facebook forum, their customer service appears to be terrible, they made a cock up of my transfer in, which never happened.

I've moved money away from them since, come April I'll have no more dealings with them fortunately.

I moved my ISA from Vanguard to Virgin about 6 months ago.

It did take a while, about a month. But it did go through in the end.

Wife did the same, hers went through in similar time.

We did have to ring them at least 3 or 4 times near the end to move them along.

Yeah I was considering transferring a significant sum from Vanguard to another provider as I'd save on platform fees.

For now the horror stories I've read are making me sit tight.

Out of interest what other provider? I'd moved across to Vanguard a while back as they seemed one of the lower.

iWeb is free if you just use it to hold. Trades cost £5 so best to invest elsewhere if you’re making frequent purchases then transfer to iWeb in specie.

I still consider Vanguard low cost and between the low platform fee and free dealing they are still an option that makes sense for a lot of people.

For what I do IWeb would be cheaper but there isn't really a right answer it all depends on your own situation as AllyM said
