The lede contains the word 'consenting'. It isn't dissimilar to the Armin Miewes case, although in Miewes' case the victim died and he was sentenced to 8.5 years (later extended to life). It's weird to think something like this could happen even once, and faintly astonishing it could happen more than once. Don't see what the problem is fundamentally. It's the sliding scale of consent that means it can't be ignored I suppose.
I used to know one of the defendants in the deep past. He was a lovely person, and may well be still as long as you don't allude to one's own components.

Lenient sentences to me, GBH with intent could be argued as they were only doing this for sadistic pleasure.
It's the victim you have to feel for the rest of his life, he clearly has severe mental issues.
