Bali in August, advice required
Discussion
I'm looking for suggestions on where to go in Bali for 14 nights in August. Hotel needs a pool and peferably withing walking distance to a good beach. Ideally we'd like to eat out at night trying local food as opposed to eating in the hotel; so a hotel within walkinig distance of bars and restaurants.
We also want to see the sights of Bali and not limit ourselves to just the beach/pool. This could be in organised trips or by planning it ourselves but i wont drive, so looking for advice on how best to travel to around.
It will be for my wife, 13yr daughter and myself.
Thanks.

Hi, went in 2022 (myself, wife and then 10 year old). Stayed in the Segara Village hotel in Sanur. Hotel was great, right on the beach and thus access to different places to eat etc. Son loved the rock pools off the beach. We did a tour with a guide to the local night market (Sindhu) which worked very well and included trying loads of different foods from the stalls. Also did a trip out to Uluwatu Temple for the fire dance - fun evening but very busy. Only stayed for 3 nights which was plenty for us.
We also stayed in Ubud for 3 nights in the Greenfield Hotel. Hotel was a little tired but they were starting to repaint / revamp when we were there so would expect that is finished now. Great location - very quite but only 5 / 10 min walk to the centre, loads of restaurants / bars / shops etc. Very loud / busy place but we enjoyed the contrast. Can recommend the rafting on the Ayung River (be warned the stairs down to the raft are very steep!) and the Paon Bali Cooking School - really good fun.
If you are after something a little different we did a trip with Sea Trek between the above two hotels. 1 night in a hotel by a beach (amazing snorkelling) and then 6 nights on the boat, exploring islands, deserted beaches, snorkelling with turtles, whale sharks, seeing the dragons etc. Absolutely amazing experience and the Sea Trek guys / boat was spot on.
Hope that helps. Have fun!

My first bit of advice would be don’t stay in one place. To get a feel for the different parts of Bali you really are better off staying in a few different places. The roads aren’t great and it can take a while to get around so day trips will probably involve a fair amount of being on the road which isn’t really that much fun.

Just looked that up........Hope that helps. Have fun!
whats included in the prices as it's not totally clear from the website? In terms of the Sea Trek element of the trip, we had to pay for the alcoholic drinks and tips for the crew. All the food, soft drinks and activities on the boat where included as far as I remember. Would definitely recommend them, the whole trip was amazing and swimming with the whale sharks was very special.
