Amazon Mistakes, Oddities and Traps
Discussion
I was just about to buy a pencil gas-torch for £3.60 from Amazon and saw a multi-buy offer: two for £7.60 or buy three for £12.80. Thinking that a back-up torch might be a good idea, I almost clicked on the 'but two' offer and stopped myself when I saw the incorrect pricing.
A mistake, or Amazon being chancers?
It's the same when it comes to more than one item in your basket. Even though they all qualify for free delivery, unless you check, one of them will have £4.99 added for P&P at the checkout stage. They do the same for Prime if you're not a Prime Customer.
It's easy to click on the icon that looks like the one you're looking for only for it to turn out to be a subscription for monthly repeat purchases. I've tripped up several times over the recent years but now that I think I'm wiser for it, I've noticed other little oddities like the one today.
Accidental mistakes? Tricks and Traps? I've paid for deliveries which should have been free.

Shower head holder thingy busted, no immediate solution to fix but saw there was a replacement part available on Amazon for eight-quid. That'll do.
Two days later, the part arrived in a massive box. Inside the cuboid was an entire shower rail assembly - a very cheap, plastic offering; China's finest plastic - and nothing even close to the stainless part I ordered. There are options to contact the seller and I did so which, it has to be said, is quite a test of your patience as the initial questions are filtered by a chat-bot. Eventually I got through.
The seller asked for photographic evidence. "We believe we have sent you the correct item". As convinced as I was of being right before that response, I doubted myself for a moment and went through the order details as well as checking in the box (maybe they sent me the whole shebang instead of the individual part). A resounding, nope. How can they say it's the correct item when it's clearly not? Given the seller had responded, I had to tell Amazon that the matter had not been resolved. The 'case' was reopened and someone else from the seller end took 100 words too many to agree that they'd sent the wrong item. Bingo! But... I now have to box it all back up, take it to a collection point; they have to receive it, check it and then they will send out the correct item. At this point, another problem presented itself, they refused to issue a returns label.
Now Amazon are mediating.
Meanwhile I don't have my replacement part and the shower head is being held in place by a cable-tie and a disposable razor to get the best angle.
