Went to look at an 08 plate Renault Clio earlier. The owner started it in driveway. I then got in it went to pull away no throttle response at all. Like the cable was disconnected. Im aware these are a potentionmeter 'throttle by wire'. I switched off ignition and then back on and it worked fine. I noticed idle was weak also. Also noticed spanner on dash which im guessing is related to fault not sure.

MY thoughts were it could be throttle position sensor new sensor or worse case ECU which would i fear could be really unpleasant to resolve maybe 600-1000?.

Any thoughts on above appreciated? Would you concur?

Unless it is very very cheap why take the risk? Clios are not rare.

Spanner could be service light? but as above, avoid.

I'd agree it's just not worth the hassle.
