My first post here - I've been lurking around in the background since the beginning of the year when I bought my first Tiv - a spanking blue Chim - which I believe are well documented to be by far the fastest :yes: It's been very VERY difficult to get that grin off my face . . .

Wondered if any of you guys & gals could help - I'm off on a jolly to France next month, obviously I'll be taking the tunnel so I have maximum Chim grin time, and it'll be prudent to take out Euro breakdown cover (not that I expect to need it of course!) - any recommendations?

I'm aware of the the laws over there (bulbs, triangle etc.) but does anyone have any inside knowledge on what to take 'just in case'?

I went to Spain in my 450 for 3 months. I took a fan belt and spacesaver spare wheel. The belt will be hard to source from the UK if it breaks and the same if you hit a bad pothole and crack a rim. Oh - and a throttle cable. Anything else Europ Assistance can sort out!

This year the missus and I took the Griff and the Chim... I'd add fuses and relays to the list... although we took tyreweld rather than a spare. Aside form that, the usual gaffer tape, cable ties and the odd spanner / screw driver...

Include a pair of fuel pump relays (the silver ones with the stripe). You'll not get them over there. Need to get them from a TVR dealer.

You can also get them from Bosch agents, or anyone who can spell "Land Rover".

Don't forget a set of allen keys for when the door opening knob comes loose, and your slippy sun lotioned hands can't grip the central stalk! Though it's a shameless opportunity for Dukes of Hazard style door skipping!

I'm thinking with a full complement of belts, relays, fluids, bulbs, tools and The Bible there'll be no room for Mrs T's extensive shoe collection

Have just had a quote for one year's multi-trip UK/Euro cover from First Call, including repatriation and hire car as necessary for £132.00 - that's including our other car too. I'm thinking that's pretty good - anyone done business with them before or can offer alternatives?

Ed450 - it's more Mrs T who suffers from slippy-hand-syndrome and can't grip the central stalk - but that's another story of course . . .

I've got my insurance and breakdown cover through NU direct.

Just hopped onto their online quote system and for a 1999 Chim 450 it was £51.47 for rescue/recovery/at home and £77.47 for rescue/recovery/at home with european cover.
