Well, I've finally taken the plunge after looking for the past three months and purchased my first Ferrari. You will see the second one down in the classifieds section is now 'sold via Pistonheads' and that's my new toy!

You can see the full spec there but I really can't stress enough how great the condition it is.

The Porsche forum has been my regular haunt for the past few years (having had about ten of them since I was a wee nipper) but I really couldn't find one that gave me the 'special' feeling I wanted for my budget - the 355 certainly does that!

It comes with a 'combat spec' Tubi (Manu's words!) which with zero silencers sounds nothing short of stunning - I'll see how long I can live with it before upsetting the neighbours too much or going deaf, but the seller (top chap and honestly my smoothest car purchase to date) has also thrown in a 'sports' exhaust and the standard one too so I have other options.

Felt like a kid at Christmas all night and you'd need serious cleaning chemicals to remove the smile from my chops while driving it home...... Oh, then doing another 60 miles for fun of course! :D

Blimey Dave! Well done mate!

Is it LHD by any chance

Keep the tubi, but be warned, it'll get even louder over time

Rubystone - LHD? Of course! Have I ever owned anything that isn't?

And as I'm moving to Germany in one month (about 75 miles from the Ring ) it makes even more sense.

Hi Kev, been a while! (BTAP two years ago?)

I am not going to confirm a perm move fromthe Porsche fold but have to admit I'm left a little short of answers on the Porsche front in that '£35k' bracket.

I wouldn't dare post this on that forum as I would no doubt be swamped with solutions to my dilema but it's all down to personal taste...

Boxster - Nope.
993 - Had one and turbo not really what I'm after.
964RS - Bloody great but not for me.
Any 996 - Nope.
Classic - Nope.

What else is there and I really was after something a little 'special'. Anyway, not sure what I'm defending my decision for, the 355 is bloody lurvely (and actually a huge amount of car for the price of a new BMW) and I'm sure none of the Pork boys would disagree.

Dave - GT3 mk1 is the answer to your question. That's the only modern Porsche that I'd consider buying now (clearly a Mk2, or GT3 RS if if found some more cash down the back of the sofa)....although in a recent rare moment of weakness I did admit to liking the look and concept of the Cayman

Well, believe it or not, after many nights sat up late with Dom (cigar and large dark rum in hand) discussing the options at my disposal that was in fact the only Porsche we came up with too and indeed I was tempted. I would have gone for this if driving on tracks was more important to me than on roads.

Never got quite sick enough to consider a Cayman tho
