Tesco Bank credit card and clubcard points
Discussion
I’ve been doing this for years.
Actually getting a bit cheesed off with Tesco keep reeling in the amount of points they give you and reducing the amount of multiples of points for the deals. It was 4x the amount when I first started. It’s now 2x.
Ok you are getting it for nothing but I may start looking at what other cards offer.

Thanks, so do you get more points for paying with the tesco credit card? As opposed to just using a clubcard alone?
Using your Tesco Clubcard credit card you'll get 1 clubcard point for every whole £8 spent outside of Tesco (e.g. £7.99 gets no points, £15.99 gets 1 point) and the same when used in store (as well as the 1 point per £1 spent as per the normal card). So instore, spend £8 and you'll essentially get 9 points, it isn't amazing but it is something for nothing (if you're not using another CC etc). You can use the Tesco Credit card for Tesco petrol, again the £8 spend 1 point logic applies plus 1 extra point per £3 spent on fuel.
We do the same, have done for years. Again, also disappointed that the points don't go nearly as far as they used to. Tesco petrol is no longer convenient now.
Given we're thinking of visiting family in Australia inside the next few years, is there an alternative that collects air miles?

It needs some discipline to manage but yes. Tap the card for the clubcard points, then tap again to pay and get more points
I do similar with M&S - most of my spending in the month is done on my M&S rewards card and it accrues points that are then turned into M&S vouchers (pays for xmas dinner mostly!). Every transaction is paid via internet banking once complete so the balance doesn't get out of hand.

I use a BA Amex Credit Card. No fee and gives you 1 Avios for every £1. Just bought £150 wine box deal and gave me 3500 miles. Soon builds up.Given we're thinking of visiting family in Australia inside the next few years, is there an alternative that collects air miles?
Lidl and Aldi will save you far more than any Clubcard or shopping at Sainsburys meantime

Amex BA free card or the Barclaycard Avios is also worth checking out - https://www.barclaycard.co.uk/personal/aviosGiven we're thinking of visiting family in Australia inside the next few years, is there an alternative that collects air miles?
A bit more of a faff, but if you don't want a credit card then Tesco Clubcard Pay offers pretty much the same extra benefits but you need to top up the card.

Up until recently I'd used my Tesco Bank credit card as a clubcard when in Tesco in order to get the reduced prices.
A chap on another thread mentioned that he uses his for all Tesco purchases in order to accrue points. Then paying off the balance every month of course.
I admit that I didn't know about the points thing. So my question is: I'm obviously accruing points by tapping my credit card (clubcard). But I then usually pay with another (debit) card. If I were to do like this other PH'er does and use my Tesco Bank credit card to pay as well as tap for points, would that earn me more points?
Thanks, and sorry for the dreary topic

So you get points on things you buy in tesco, points on fuel and points for just using the credit card.
Its definitely worthwhile if you can pay it off every month.
