These should invoke some opinions laugh

I actually really like some of these.

Some of them will probably upset the purists, but at least they aren't fakes.

Anyone bought one?

Well, technically they're fake Seikos wink

I get the ad on Insta and some of them seem quite fun!

Fair point. laugh

At least they do have Seiko movements in them! I’m really quite tempted by one, wonder if it doesn’t show up my credit card will cover it?!? eek

All the parts can be bought from AliX. Why not give it a go putting one together, its great fun!

I haven't built one for ages but I got all the parts to make another custom 'SUB'... if I get a spare evening, may give it a go and flog it here! biggrin

I've seen a few of these shops popping up, they charge astronomical prices for something you could build for less than a 1/4 of the price. I regularly build and modify Seikos or watches with Seiko movements, I'd recommend anyone has a go as its really good fun.

My current stable has these 3 mods in:

I'm in a seiko mod group on facebook but the vast majority arent even seiko mods, they are custom builds with a seiko badge slapped on.

I actually think they would be much better with a custom logo instead.

Those look great, I wouldn't know where to start and have massive sausage fingers so I'm not sure it's the right hobby for me laugh

Thanks, I have sold a fair few over the years. Keep thinking I should turn it into a little side hustle. Undercut the crazy expensive sellers and just do it for some beer money.

I don't mind them and class them as a bit of fun.

My only issue is, as others have said, is that they aren't a Seiko. They are a fake Seiko, and it makes no sense to have the Seiko logo on them or to call them a Seiko.

Even some of the models that are sold ready built and claim to have an NH35 movement inside them, actually don't. It is often a Chinese copy of the NH35.

I actually have a seiko that needs a new movement and crystal, what kind of money would you be talking to throw in an nh35 and a sapphire glass?

How much does it cost to build a mod and where do I get started?

If you can do me one of these then I'm very much listening...

Presuming its an SKX007/009 and depending on which crystal and crown you would like its probably £150 in total.

When switching from an 7s26 to an NH35/6 you have to change the crown and stem. I like to use parts from Namoki mods which are miles ahead in quality compared to the crap on Aliexpress.

That is rather nice. My all time favourite modified seiko is this one though...

They stopped making the base model though, pushing prices up.

Depends really on how far you want to go. This is a good resource - https://www.namokimods.com/blogs/namokitimes/watch...

Easy wink although I wouldn't be building anything with Airking or Seiko on the dial (Unless it was a genuine Seiko dial). Have seen lots of watches get pulled on eBay for trademark infringements.

If you wished to sell on PH there is a 'Watches for sale' thread. You wouldn't have to sell via eBay.
