Possibly - only available to existing current account holders I believe.

Nope, I opened one a couple of months ago and so did the Mrs, both new customers. They act as our easy access, no fee, emergency fund that still earns 5.2%

We have about £9.4k in each in order to max out our higher rate savings allowance of £1000 (£500 each as we are both higher rate tax payers).

That's impressive - is it a special rate for existing customers or something?

Currently the best rate for a two-year fixed term on the NatWest web site is 3.80%.

Long-running interest rate thread here: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...smile

Anything over 5% is decent at the moment.

This is covered elsewhere probably but can I ask why those on a higher rate would choose this and not stick to premium bonds?

I have a bit in premium bonds that has done really well last year. I know it's a lottery but it just seems easier than worrying about tax on interest from savings.

I did think about moving some money to an account like some of those described including 6/9/12 month fixed but not sure it's the best move.

Presumably some may have already maxed out on PB’s ?

Had about 30k in premium bonds years ago but cashed them in. According to a lot of the reviews on recent experiences people have had a nightmare trying to cash them in, is it true?

Just checked the Natwest account in case I as making it all up 5.38% gross 5.51% AER started it in July last year, lovely.

I don't believe that's true. Certainly not from my perspective

I've had mine a year and done really well. I've withdrawn about 4 times:

1) about £6k to clear credit cards that were just annoying me and wanted them gone

2) about £2k as I had unexpected work expenses and we have to claim it back using receipts after

The only annoying thing is waiting about 3-5 days for the bank transfer.

From reading them again it seems that the difficulty people are experiencing is from the app not working properly.
