As above, just came in the post. HSBC credit card with £10k limit. I don’t bank with them, never have. I’ve never spoken to them. Is this not highly odd? I’m on hold to them now but wondered what this could be and how it could have happened?

Wife hasn’t done it either and also never has banked with them.

Sounds like somebody fraudulently applied in your name and probably planned to intercept the card then go on a spending spree in your name.

Speak to the fraud team at HSBC and then check your credit file to see if anything else has been taken out

They’re saying it can only be resolved in branch as their ‘impersonation team’ is in branch?

Obviously total bks from someone in an Indian call center. I fking hate banks.

Sounds like total bks. Phone to report fraud that should get you through.

Also sign up to something like credit karma. You will see where searches have been done and credit taken.

My wife had this with a phone. A brand new iPhone appeared one day.

The fraud team can enable cifas on your credit file which makes it harder for people to do this.
