Hi team

Curves magazine from Germany has recently published a short video for the 60th anniversary of Porsche 911.

Relevance to to this forum? Surprisingly, they chose my backyard for the drive in late December 2023.

The video captures perfectly my reasons why - why the South Island, and why my BR-fettled manual V8VS is simply perfect for these conditions - after decades of a multitude of manual analogues - Carrera C4S, several M-series BMWs, Lotus Esprit Turbo, a soulful Audi 20V quattro coupe (still missed), and others. I do 4 of these road trips annually, each over 10 days or so, with 2024 starting Tuesday. One day dawdling to Wellington and the ferry, then 10 days of bliss, never the same road twice - please note traffic volumes, and the quality of the roads. Just me, the Aston, and these roads.

In this congested, intense, politicized and angry world, there is a real sense we are losing something important. EU-mandated interventions make the auto industry bloated, anachronistic and anti-social, and driver-focused sports cars are increasingly for social media rather than for the driver seeking the purity of the experience. These road trips are touchstones, and a refuge in this crazy world..

Brilliant

4 of us are going to Tassie this May to drive the west coast targa roads, 3 x Astons (Vanquish, V8VS, V12VS) plus an R8 Audi

this looks even better

Might need to talk to you about shipping teh cars over for a drive next year or in 2026

thanks for posting

Graze

Sounds like a great idea. 102 octane fuel also available throughout the south, as a plus
