What is RMS?

I've noticed several posts refer to RMS problems with the Boxster.

Without wishing to sound foolish, can anyone explain to me what this is?

The Rear Main Seal. It keeps oil inside the engine... Or not, as the case may be

stands for Root Mean Square, generally more useful than peak speaker output.
