Went past this Aston today covered in gizmos and had a lot of tech stuff inside. Presumably some sort of test car / prototype? Anyone care to enlighten me?

Ps I was in the passenger seat taking the photo.

It's been a while since I was near that sort of kit but look like wheel torque transducers perhaps?

Maybe a brake or powertrain vibration issue that they're trying to track down or capturing real world brake friction characterisation

It's remote control. That's the aerial you can see

Could this be an EV or hybrid powertrain and they're doing wheel torque calibration?

I doubt it to be honest, you don’t really need to do much analysis with e-motors, it’s pretty trivial to calculate output torque within any margin that matters and you don’t really need to measure it at the wheels.

As with F1 it’s a retention system in case the wheel wants to go off by itself due to a pothole or some such.

They are wheel force sensors and telemetry devices. Probably from A-Tech Instruments.
