Hi all -- So a strange thing happened today, I closed my trunk and it unlatched itself back open a few moments later, after I'd gotten in the car. Re-closed it, and the same thing happened. Then I fiddled with it a bit and it refused to open altogether. Until it unlatched itself again the next time I parked. And so on. Been doing it now all day. It won't do it when the car is locked, thankfully, but obviously something went wrong.

So, anyone have any experience with these symptoms?

To me it seems like a relay and not the latch itself, but I can't find a relay diagram anywhere.

I don't know which component might be faulty, but suggest that you take the opportunity now to prepare, just in case it refuses to open.

Think the guidance is to remove the parcel shelf and tie string to the internal tailgate release dangly handle.
Run the string into the cabin, then a pull on the string should hopefully release the latch.

Sounds like you could have a problem with a broken wire between cem and the switch.
