Seat fixing nut spinning in seat runner

Currently repainting the floors in my Caterham SV. Initially intended to just remove the seats and leave the runners in situ while I removed the existing paint and then prime and repaint. When removing the passenger seat I struggled to remove one of the Allen head bolts as the captive nut in the seat runner was spinning. I have eventually managed to get the bolt out by inserting a screwdriver blade to exert pressure between the seat frame and the runner while undoing the bolt.

I’ve now removed the seat runner from the car and need to find a way of preventing the nut from spinning in the runner. I guess the nut could be tack welded in a couple of spots to hold it in place but I have no access to welding equipment.

Anybody see an easy solution to my predicament?

I might be wrong but i think if you have a long enough bolt then put it through a socket or something which will sit on the top of the rivenut and tighten down the bolt therefore squeezing it back tight into place.

Many thanks Pando99. I put a 10mm socket over the back of the nut and it protruded about 3mm outside the runner. Put it in the vice and nipped it up - seems to be solid again. Cheers
