Just read the new issue. Must confess I bought it for the 964 RS stuff(nothing new but a good read anyway). Nicely written and good pics of Matt Bowmans car. Trying to give car mags up before my house overflows.
Was, I have to say a good read all round. Good article on Ruf BTR2 too. Nice attempt at the RMS issues but please read through before you print it! Would have like to seen them ask Porsche why if it's just the seal causing the leak, why do some engines leak more than once and some several times!!!
Overall though a good read.

I wasn't too impressed with the RS article myself. There were many technical inaccuracies and after preaching the virtues of making sure an RS has all the right bits like mags and ally bonnet, etc, they proceed to show a close up of one of the wheels with accompanying text about the said Mags. However the picture wasn't of a genuine magnesium wheel, and it wasn't even a genuine Cup 1 wheel, but a replica. OK so I'm a bit of an anorak, but I love these cars and that seems criminal.
As the article was about the 964 RS Profile I'd expect to see fewer technical inaccuracies and more detail in areas that feature articles or road tests can't go into. It read like a lazy, inaccurate re-write of previously available stuff. And comments like seeing your first pair of breasts was rather at odds with the rest of the article. It was almost as if the writer had just finished reading Chris Harris's article in GT Purely Porsche about the reaction of guys surrounding a 993 GT2 in the pits, and thought I know! The comment was the same horse different jocky.
If they really think a 964 RS Clubsport has no rubber bushes in the suspension I suggest a bit more research is in order for the next car they profile. The 964 RS Basic and Sport are identical in this respect.
As they had a clubsport to photograph I thought they missed a really good opportunity to show pictures of the seam welding in the rear. Many people are dubious, but they could have shown it. OK the pics wouldn't have been that exciting, but it could have shown a couple of areas that are indeed seam welded. In contradiction to the article it is only a few areas that are seam welded. The article states that the body is seam wleded instead of spot welded. No.

Totally agree with this. The comment about the breasts wasn't very subtle, the simile just wasn't as good as Chris Harris's about cavemen surrounding a dead mammoth (or whatever he said!!). It sounded like he was copying Harris, but he didn't do it as well.

although those cracks in the discs were a good reminder for me to check mine ! and clean out the dust from the drilled holes !
Nice one Paul. You anorak
had'nt looked at the pictures too closely. I think i have become de-sensistised to the inaccuracies. The seam welded body bit is one of my pet hates(i have become used to hearing it). Far more accurate to say seam welded in specific places. I think the writers are often trying to write to a wide audience (as far as technical depth or knowledge is concerned) and they tend to "dumb down" and that's what leads to the miss quotes.like "no rubber in the suspension topmounts, monoballs instead" becomes "no rubber in the suspension bushes"!!!
