Anyone got any recommendations for software for the above task. I have some webspace and would like an easy way of uploading images into some sort of album setup. Would prefer to use my own webspace rather than any of the pic storage sites you guys currently use.

If it helps, I have version 3.3 of this: www.digitaldutch.com/arles/

Pretty easy to use.

Can send it to you if it helps.

It's a few years 'out of date' but works a treat.

Photoshop has a web gallery creator built in. There's a choice of templates. I don't now if it's in PS Elements or not, but a lot of image browsers, like iView or PhotoMechanic (and others too I presume) all have HTML gallery generators.

If you want one with a bit of "flash" (literally), then:

www.airtightinteractive.com/simpleviewer/

With up/download, I think that you are probably looking more for something like:

http://gallery.menalto.com/

I'm actually moving my albums from gallery to simpleviewer. I'm also using jalbum to create a virtually identical non-flash version.
Both use the same images.

e.g.

http://sailpics.co.uk/galleries/grafham030905/
or

I use jalbum and have created my own template files so I can upload in the format that matches my site.

Excellent sites by one of my clients using Gallery. I will install Gallery for free on all of my hosting packages.

I use Coppermine which is PHP based and I believe works well (well it does for me).

You can check out some examples here My Stuff

Test from jalbum

not sure why the album isn't appearing on my webspace at www.aqsk40.dsl.pipex.com/ but is instead appearing here http://dialspace.dial.pipex.com/prod/dialspace/town/pipexdsl/q/aqsk40/album/

It is on your webspace, but it's in a subfolder called album.

try this:

www.aqsk40.dsl.pipex.com/album/

www.Nobletv.co.uk uses JAlbum with a few edits to one of the supplied templates.
