Intermittent EPAS

Hyundai i20 1.2, 2014, 31k, owned from new.

Occasional but getting more frequent EPAS fails for a second or two, then springs into life. Only when stationary and preparing to manoeuvre. No lights, new battery 3 yrs ago, codes not read.


Any ideas, before I send it to the garage?

More than likely the column itself, worth checking the codes though first as voltage drops can be an issue poor connections etc.

Thank you, once it stops raining I'll check the battery, and maybe charge it for a day or two see if it makes any difference.

The car only does a few (sub 10 mile) trips per week.

Could be a voltage issue, a lot of electric power steering systems throw a wobbly when it dips.

Battery 12.2v so a little low (14.1v running) I've hooked my ctek and see how it goes. Hoping it's as simple as winter + low mileage.

Since charging I've not used the car much, all seems okay though. Interestingly checking the battery it seems under spec.
