Insurance Company Issues...

What do we make of this.

My insurance company contacted me June last year to say someone had claimed against me. However they had provided no details of an incident, only the date. No time, no location and no other details. I told them I hadn't been involved in any incident and maybe it was a mistake and could they provide more details. I heard nothing back.

Now it comes to renewal time, the quote was near on 3k for an old Audi so told them to poke it and have not renewed. Now the claims department have popped up again asking for details of the incident, that I wasn't involved in.

I went to Adrian Flux for a quote who said that this incident was causing an issue and I explained what happened, the nice lady said get them to cancel it and you'll be able to get cheaper quotes.

I'm going to call them today but anyone had anything similar? Seems I'm "guilty until proven innocent"...

If you know nothing happened to your car on that day then at the very least I would certainly be contacting your old Insurer.
It could be that “ investigations “ are still happening there albeit at glacial speed.
Personally I would do via email as verbally could prove frustrating and slow and arguable still nothing in writing to then potentially pass to your next Insurer just in case.
