There are more mainstream marques I've never owned, than those I've owned. No real reason as I've just bought what suited my needs/budget at the time.

So many car brands out there that it is not surprising that I haven’t owned them all.
Probably more relevant motorbikes as I’ve had Kawasaki, Honda and Suzuki but never a Yamaha. Maybe I need to remedy that with an R1.
I’ve also owned Japanese, German, Italian and Austrian bikes but never a British bike. I got close as I put a deposit down on a Norton but was fortunate to cancel and get my money back before they folded.

There are lots of cars I have never owned through just not being sufficiently interested. I have decided to explain why & give an example of a car I would have from that manufacturer.
Car brands I actively choose to avoid are:
Mercedes Benz. Every one I have ever driven is supremely capable & unremittingly dull.
Now I know they make stuff like the AMG E63 or SLS cars, which I have never driven. But for the money I bet you could find a more interesting alternative.
My wife has an EQC on lease & we are struggling to use up the mileage allowance.
I would have a C215 CL55AMG. I still think they look pretty.
Alfa-Romeo / Lancia. Lots of cars I like, but when it comes to it shy away and buy something else.
Just not enough want to overcome the bork fear.
This is from a Range Rover owner.
Brera Quadrofoglio by Pro Drive / Delta Integrale 16V if I was going to have one, but then who wouldn’t?
Volkswagen / Audi. Dull & hateful. I know there’s lots of love but something about them just turns me off.
I think it’s the fact they feel good at normal road speeds, really promising, and then you lean on them a bit & start to hustle & they get progressively worse the faster you go. Great engineering for the 99% of the population that don’t drive like dicks I suppose. But I find then unrewarding.
Audi RS models. Too fast, too capable, driver involvement limited to velocity choice & direction of travel. I prefer something that requires my skills a bit at least and is vaguely fun at road speeds.
My favourite is the C4 100/A6 model. Ideally in 2.7 TDi V6 Quattro form.
Ferrari / Lamborghini. Not a problem I have admittedly but never wanted one.
Even if I won the EuroMillions I’d have a GT40 before a 275GTB.
I think it’s the image of them being status symbols for people who aren’t interested in cars.
A Ferrari 400i or a Lamborghini Espada if I had to.

Would love one but have what is probably an unfounded fear re reliability.
I've had a few, and they were all fine. Go for it!Would love one but have what is probably an unfounded fear re reliability.
I've wanted but never owned a Range Rover for the same reason!
Of the interesting marques, I've never owned an Alfa, Aston Martin or Lamborghini, or Nissan GTR
BMW, just never really fancied one, although have considered them in the past. Some of there models have ticked a lot of boxes but ultimately I've always chosen something else. Can't imagine I'll ever have one.
I also come from a big Fast Ford family, everything from Lotus Cortinas, Tickford Capri to Cosworths. I alway liked the idea of one until I test drove an Escort, it was pants. Never really considered a Ford since. Although I do like a Transit.

I keep looking at F Types but then think they are a bit too in your face for me at my time of life. Then again I keep thinking why not.

Reliability issues, some really are quite ugly and the two I've been in, i didn't like.
This would appear to be a complete fallacy these days, certainly in my experience and the stories (mostly) on PH. So much so that I went crazy and bought a Land Rover to bring some risk into my life.Reliability issues, some really are quite ugly and the two I've been in, i didn't like.
I’ve never owned a French car although, back in the day, the 5 Turbo appealed, as did the 19-16v.
Never a Japanese car despite having worked for both Suzuki and Toyota, certainly for the latter up to a few years ago their products were distinctly dull.
Never American either, but some of the late-60s muscle appeals…
Never gone “premium” German (BMW/Mercedes/Audi), nothing has appealed in the modern era. Should have done the M3 thing but never got around to it before prices went daft.
Then for the big hitters, we’ll see later in life.
Such a sheltered life.

I couldn’t have put it better, especially the Ferrari issue always found them a bit naff and I don’t mean to offend anyone however that seems to be exclusive to the newer recent stuff, 50’s 60’s cars look stunning and classy.Car brands I actively choose to avoid are:
