Breakdown cover - Euro trip

Plan is a decent roadtrip from uk to/from Slovenia (Lake Bled) in June via Holland/Germany/Austria/Italy. Am currently an AA Member (basic package), can upgrade to euro cover for the single trip but anyone have recommendations/ advice please if they are actually any good should the worst happen and the car need recovering home etc?

Nationwide give free Euro cover if you have an account with them, not sure how good it is.

Also, depending what car you have, some manufacturers offer breakdown cover, so maybe worth checking that.

It's under mclaren warranty so that might also help but I don't mind paying for specific cover to get me /car home

How old is the car? It is probably worth checking the details of the cover you already have. My Wife locked the key in my Alfa 156 GTA when we were in France. At the time the car was less than 3 years old, and the European wide breakdown cover that came with the car sorted everything out very efficiently. When it happened I didn't even know that cover was provided. Someone suggested it might be the case, and sure enough, it was.

Failing that, I get "free" European (and UK) breakdown cover with my Bank Account.

Worth checking with your dealer then as I think Mclaren offer (or at least used to) Euro cover either as part of the warranty, or a paid extra.
