So a big thanks to everyone’s feedback and advice when looking at cars, it was invaluable in finding the right car for me so here it is.

My thoughts so far;
• It’s not slow is it?
• I’m used to attention from having various Astons but this is a whole new level
• Don’t buy one if you have a bad back, it will get worse!
• Keys – wow these are cheep and nasty! Any after market alternatives?
• Why do my wing mirrors never remember the position they were at when I get back in the car?!
• Sound….. really disappointing. Appreciate I’m coming from a N/A 6lt V12 but I think McLaren could have made more effort in the sound department
• B&W stereo is a bit disappointing also, but probably because I’m used the 46 speaker system in i7.
• Traction – I’ll make a separate post about tyre choice

I took the car to V Engineering, again recommended on here, what a great bunch of people! VERY knowledgeable and helpful, I’d suggest anyone buying a used Mc visits these guys. Mine is from a main dealer so full warranty but they still found some issues I can get looked at right away.

Overall I’m really happy with the car and I’m confident I got the right car for me.

Congratulations! Car looks very dramatic.

Is the 'bad back' from entry and exit, or actually while driving? I don't know what seats you have but in my 570 with the comfort seats I found them very good for my back once properly adjusted (not easy!). So keep playing with the position until you find a good one, then store it in the memory.

Wing mirror positions should stay. Have you got reverse dip enabled? That might mess with things especially if you're then inadvertently adjusting the 'dip' position.

I reckon the stereo quality is due to the background noise inherent in having a carbon tub, fat tyres and suspension more focused on precision than isolation. My B&W sounds really great .... when I'm sat stationary! The i7 is I guess very quiet on the move, the sound quality is likely more this than the speaker count.

You can get upgraded exhausts (aftermarket or McLaren) which release more volume, ultimately it's never going to sound like an N/A engine though. I've warmed somewhat to the sound of mine over time.

I'm really glad you've been to V Engineering, I think they're the perfect antidote to "poor McLaren quality", they can spot and rectify all the little issues that might otherwise spoil the ownership experience.

Enjoy, it's a good time to start ownership as the tarmac will only be getting drier and stickier from now on!

My 650 sounds a lot better than my V12V inside the cabin, but then it’s a spider with the option to drop the backlight….

Mclarens sound pretty good from behind, but thats not much use when your inside....either go for a 200 cell sports cat (or no cats) and straight through exhaust, then they sound pretty great.

Congrats on the new car these still look the nuts...carwow posted a drag between this and the new 750s and there was really nothing in it...not a great advert for the newer car that'll set you back more than double. I have no complaints of noise with my 600 spider, drop the back window and it's a visceral experience.

If the B&W in the 720 is anything like the 570, then there's a number of different configurations to play with in the menu.
I've found that the sound is markedly different from stationary to driving, so if you do set it up whilst idle, be prepared for a modest bit of tweaking to get it to sound right on the move.

My only advice as an owner for only 2 months is buy new tyres, I went with SC7 but I think any brand will be better than old rubber.

Congratulations

I’ve only had mine 3 months and not been out since the week before Christmas and the weather went crap. Can’t wait for some nice salt free weather. Getting desperate to drive her now.

I have a dodgy back but found the seat massively comfortable once adjusted. Have to be careful getting out no to overstretch though.

It’s just an amazing car, much like driving the star ship enterprise.
