New kit cars go on show at Brands
Totalkitcar Live exhibition is next weekend
Kit car makers will be showing off their wares at totalkitcar Live next week. From replicas of classic sportscars to bespoke designs, over 50 manufacturers will be showing their cars at Brands Hatch on Saturday 17 September.
Exhibitors include the V8-powered Daytona Coupe built by British America to the Elise-style, mid-engined, two-seater Spyder from GTM, and sixties throwbacks from Hawk Cars. Conspicuous by its absence is Caterham, although Westfield and Dax will be there.
The event will also be the platform for the launch of several new models. They include Chesil’s RS60, a replica of the glorious Porsche 714RSK, a Chevy V8 powered version of Luego’s Lotus Seven replica, the LV570, a new Audi V8-powered version of MNR's Tytan, and a track-day orientated version of Sebring International’s Austin Healey replica, the ZX.
Visitors to the show can make a shortlist before test-driving their cars. There will also be a demo test build where two manufacturers will be building a kit against the clock on the day, starting at 9am and finishing by 6pm.
A kit car track day on the Sunday was planned, but has been cancelled.
Kit cars are very much a British speciality, with the industry generating over £50m annually, selling more than 4,500 vehicles and boasting some 220 different manufacturers. If you've ever fancied a replica -- and there are some good ones out there -- this could be a good oppo to take a look a load of them in one place.
Totalkitcar Live tickets cost £5 per adult, with children aged 12 and under free. The event opens at 9am, with on-track sessions all day until 6.30pm.

the RWYB track sessions on Sunday are OFF due to lack of bookings.

I had a great day for free demo'ing my Libra for GTM cars. But cannot believe hardly any public turned up, I gave about 12 people rides but only 1 was a genuine "punter". But he did order a car...... Most of the people looking at the car between rides were unaware they could get wristbands and just have ride. Bit of a cock up but hopefully will be better next time. But a cracking day overall, although i have never witnessed so mant red flags or blow-ups! not good advertising, especially if a potential customer is in the car as well!
Noticed the Aeon GT3 seemed to manage 1 lap at a time before going straight back into the pits, bit of a worry as they now bulid my kit the Pell, anyone got an idea what the problem(s) where?
I had no ideal about the wristbands? there was no info about them or anything about the procedures about the day.
Shame it was a poor turnout as a very good concept
Would have gone meself and taken my mate with me had i realised

AFAIK The GT3 had only minor niggles (turbo hose was loose) but apart from that it was faultless. I had a few laps in it myself and it was suprisingly quiet and handled like a dream.
As far as the event is concerned, it was a typically badly organised (and publicised) affair. Nobody was aware of the check-in procedure for drivers & passengers. £10 to hire a helmet was a suprise for most people - and a deposit was insisted on too. This often had to be a credit card which was just thrown into a box with everybody else's until the lid was returned - not very secure.
Brands Hatch is well known for this level of service so I suppose we shouldn't be too suprised.
