Amazon Prime Video - No Dolby Video/Atmos without Ad Free

So now that Amazon Prime Video have started charging £2.99 to go ad free (on a channel you are already paying to subscribe to...) they have also removed both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos from the standard subscription. So you'll need to pay the £2.99 monthly fee if you want to watch better quality than standard HDR. Jokers.

I guess it may have been done for technical reasons, i.e. the ads werent encoded in Dolby and they didn't want people's TVs to have to refresh each ad break.

The free deliveries are useful in a lazy way. On the other hand deliveries to the corner shop I walk past with the dogs most days are also free.I am on annual renewal. Suspect I will bin Prime rather than renew. Use the savings to join Netflix for the odd month if there is anything I particularly want to watch.

I do, however, have weekly spats with that pettifogger, Alexa (we have 6 dotted around, mainly for timing cooking duties and turning lights on/off). You ask it for a song, it reads out the weather. You ask it to put a reminder in the calendar...it tries to flog you a subscription 'cancel anytime....'. Its almost as if the software team stopped updating them.
I also have a sense of impending doom, that one day in the not so distant dystopian future, all the name calling and threatening remarks to Alexa will result in me being hunted down by the Amazon/Meta robot army for my voice crimes. (so ive started to be more polite)
