I know this is another thread on a city that is apparently going down hill but we have a stop planned in the summer on our road trip before we head down to LA.

I have already booked The Suites at Fisherman's Wharf, https://www.shellhospitality.com/hotels/suites-at-... which has some parking but am reading reviews and it seems the car park (which is apparently secure and why I picked it) gets full really quickly. Speaking to the hotel they do not take parking reservations thus will not guarantee parking. Considering the trip beforehand (we are driving from Yosemite to SF) I can see us getting there approx 6pm, and that only enhances the chances of the car park being full.

So my Q is - can anyone recommend alternative secure parking near Fishermans Wharf.

Thanks

I went last year. There are tonnes of secure parking garages around SF where you can pay to overnight your car. You won't struggle to find one and they're all much of a muchness (primarily indoors with attendant and/or locked shut at night). The price is high (I think $50+ to overnight from memory).

What car you driving?

We had a Dodge Challenger and just parked it on the street with no problems. And that was two blocks away from Tenderloin.

We should have a larger SUV… hopefully something like a Tahoe or a Yukon! When in Rome and all that!
I am hoping I am worrying about nothing and we will get into the hotel garage!

I am sure you already know but don't leave anything in the car, literally anything. We had the back windows on our suv smashed.

Also watch out for parking charges, they make it as confusing as possible! Be aware there are tolls in and around SF that are online only, so make sure you pay them!

HTH.
