Worst vehicle insurance scam against you

I had the misfortune to be hit by a driver on a roundabout in Reading Monday morning.
Regardless of who is right or wrong (I didn't move from my lane, he went into me so it would appear he made a mistake), he lightly brushed my car and caused a few minor insignificant scratches. I went to a friend who owns a bodyshop the very next morning and by the time I had turned around they were gone, I use the word again, insignificant.
He however is now claiming the following:
Damage to his wing (above the bumper)
Damage to his bumper
Significant damage to his wheel
A bent steering column
Look at the two cars, I think he might be stretching the truth ever so slightly, just a tiny bit!
I have been called by a claims company who are going for the throat and I in turn have called my broker and left him to deal with it. I have also called the insurance fraud line and hope they get involved.
I have made his claims company aware I have date stamped photos etc and he's taking the pi..... nothing more I can do unfortunately.

I’ve known of quite a lot involving friends. Worst was my sister bumped a taxi driver - it cracked his reg plate (there’s a chance it was already cracked). My dad was a passenger and took loads of pics.
Taxi driver was claiming bumper, wings, lights - you name it, plus the injuries meaning that he couldn’t help his wife with chores or go on his Hajj.
Insurance paid him out despite having all the pictures.
I could go on an on with similar examples - it’s depressing. There is, however, one common factor in every one of them.

Currently have a claim open against my policy from a pedestrian who we did not even make contact with who is claiming for injuries consistent with being run over at 40+ mph as well as the inevitable pyschological trauma. Solicitors are on the case and are confident we will win, but it's a painful process when people just no-win no-fee the system for what they perceive as easy $$$$.

My sister's husband was getting a taxi from a night out back to the naval base he was staying at. The taxi driver did the usual tactic of taking the long way round so my sister's husband had an arguement with the driver and asked to be let out where he was. The driver demanded he paid for the whole fair to which he refused. The driver got out the car and "forgot" to put the handbrake on so the taxi rolled into another vehicle. Driver called the police and said passenger had let the handbrake off. So sister's other half got arrested and spent the night in the cells. His boss came to visit him and told him he would end losing his job of this went further. Police investigated the incident at some great depth and it turned out the taxi driver had a load of previous for doing it!

Sounds like the typical Egyptian scam (along with the can you change this $100 to local money where he throws the money at you and only actually gives you $80 and then claims he gave you $100)HoHoHo said:

His boss sounds like a real stand up kind of guy, has him employees backs etc.

The problem is while the claims industry is allowed to operate the way it does the ins co's are stuck between a rock and a hard place, it's just not worth the time and money defending small, even obviously fraudulent claims, cheaper to say here's 5 grand now bu**er off. If the system was to shift even a small amount of jeopardy onto the claimant 90% of them would vanish overnight and we would all be insuring our cars for £50 a year Chris

Years back a car clipped a neighbours (the car was parked with the wheel at an angle) and then rolled, the neighbors car had no damage apart from a flat tyre but the other car was written off, the neighbor moved his car onto the drive and then denied there was ever any contact.
Likely will need a new bumper, wing and wheel, the steering column will probably just be a bent track rod as they are usually the weak point but to the laymay it will feel like the steering column is bust.

Can you explain how my car caused the rip in his wing please?
I have nothing pointy on my car, no paint from his on my car, no paint from mine on his car and the horizontal damage is behind the furthest point out of the wing, that would have also been damaged.

No, that's the point of this thread - have a look at my car (black Taycan , rear door, no damage) and he's claiming I damaged the wheel, bumper, wing and steering rack.In order to damage the wing for example I would have needed to have something pointy sticking out of my car.
