I've received a letter invoice from these nice people at Horizon Parking demanding that I pay them £70 for exceeding the 3 hour limit for parking at a local Tesco. They've included photos of my car entering, and then leaving the car park 3 hours and 10 minutes apart. Definitely my car. However, I've checked my Google Timeline for the day in question and it shows I didn't leave the house. I also checked my bank statement and there are no transactions in Tesco for the day in question. I'm pretty sure nobody used the car that day. I've therefore written to Horizon to advise them that I don't know who was driving that day, but that it wasn't me.

But the next day I went to Tesco twice in the car. Once in the morning and once in the afternoon. I wonder if the date on the ANPR camera was a day out, and that they have "double dipped" me that day by ignoring the first exit and second entrance. Any thoughts?

I'd better add that I would never leave my car in the car park in question for 3 hours! I'm also in Scotland.

Is there a "no return within xhrs" stipulation on the tesco parking sign? I suspect this is what they're going after you for. The two visits are amalgamated, as they count as one visit and it exceeded the limit.

POFA doesn't apply in Scotland so can they transfer liability from the driver (with whom the contract exists, and they don't know who drove) to the Registered Keeper?

I checked - it's one hour so that's not the reason.

Can you post an image of the car park notice giving conditions?

Unless things have changed if you're in Scotland just bin the letter and forget about it.

Check they haven't changed first though!

I'll do that tomorrow. I've already been today, so don't want another speculative invoice from them...

Sounds like a mix-up, I had something similar with my car and gym car park except it was a bit more obvious as they reckoned I'd left the car there 24hrs. They sent me a notice with two lovely pictures of the car, one entering at something like 6pm Thurs then leaving at something like 7:15pm Friday.

I just sent them screenshots of my Google tracking and asked them to double-check the times when it said I'd left/entered on the relevant days and they cancelled it without fuss. Hopfully yours is as easy.

Well, much to my amazement, they caved in without a fight and cancelled the ticket!
