"Patricia Hewitt
denounces car industry as sexist"
So MSN news tells me. The part-time "minister for women" is upset about a poster advertising the motor show which features a lady in lacy underwear etc etc...
DON'T MPs HAVE ANYTHING BETTER TO DO????
It's not the complaints about sexism that bother me, it's the fact that YET AGAIN an MP has to leap into the public circle and critisise "the car industry" for something trivial.
In my opinion this is not just unwarranted but stupid. If you're promoting an event, and you expect the huge majority of interest to be from men you don't advertise it like "hello" magazine. You aim at your target audience.
Surely as secratary for trade and industry Patricia Hewitt should know this???
Regardless of that, how many major players in "the car industry" will have been responsible for designing this poster? Do we think anyone at TVR / Ferrari or even VAG spent days trying their best to come up with an add to offend women-kind???
Probably not.
Sad fact remains that "tarring with the same brush" is perfectly acceptable when it comes to cars and indeed those who drive, make or interact with them in any way.
Unless your an MP/eco-weeeny on your high horse.
Grrr!
