Help Please, Kawasaki Z750
Discussion
I've got a 6month old z750. On two occasions now its started playing me up.
Each time I've been in traffic doing a constant speed with the engine temp around 80 - 90. It starts to run rough and sounds like a trail bike or like the exhaust is blowing. It also looses a load of power and becomes unresponsive.
Once I'm out of the traffic, after about 10 minutes fairly quick riding it seens to sort its self out.
Any ideas?
Also can anyone recommend a Kawasaki service agent near woking?
Thanks,
Phill

Right, the latest theory, each time the bikes misbehaved its been after its been sitting for 3 days or so.
Therefore, when the fan comes on (at about 90 degrees and about 10 - 15 minutes after I've started riding) the battery is not fully charged and struggles a bit.
This would explain why it does it when I first go out, why it stops after a while, and why it doesnt do it again if I take the bike out later in the same day or the next day.
Thoughts please.

Phill

Are you getting any warning lights? It might be going into 'limp' mode.
Have you changed your fuel supplier? Cheapy Asdagas might be causing issues...
Could be water getting into the tank, is the cap sealing ok? Is the bike left out in all weathers?
Do you use an optimate or similar when the bike's stood? A low battery or loose terminals can make the bike run rough.
Could just as easily be a dirty/faulty spark plug, is it doing it from initial start up? If so have a feel of the downpipes (be careful) and find out which one isn't warming.
The bike's still under warranty, if the problem is recurring enough then give it back to the shop for them to have a go at diagnosing it.

No, the bikes left outside so its not really an option. This is looking like the most plausable explanation.

The bike is fine and dandy from initial start up.

I'll do that, thanks for the advice.

Hmmm. I 've had similar sounding problems on my Z1000 ,(2 years old ) They had the bike for 3 months at one stage , and it still occasionally plays up.
I don't think they know what the fault is , but they fob me off with dirty injectors and stuff. (Now that wouldn't take three months to find would it

)Right, more info, rough running only happens when the bikes been standing for 2 or more days. It only happens when the bike reaches about 85 - 90 degrees for the first time in a ride and only lasts for about 10 minutes.
It does not run rough at any other time and if riden on consequtive days or on the same day there is no problem.
Do the collective think this sounds like a problem with the battery loosing charge or are there any other suggestions.
Z1000, does this sound familiar?
Thanks,
Phill

The bike is completely standard.
I bought it privately 6 months old so it still has almost 18months warranty.
However the problem with getting a dealer to sort it is that it is very intermitent.
At the moment I'm trying to get a handle on exactly when it happens. I've got a 4k service due in about 700miles so I'll get them to check it then.

Certainly similar , but my bike could become totally unridable at times , that's why the dealer had it back so long , hassle these guys , and feel free to mention my name as they may have the technical knowledge but are withholding it from me.(Yes , that is a genuine email address) schitty@kawasaki.co.uk
Also , YHM in a minute
