Have my daily driver insured with Admiral. Unsure whether to go with a multi car policy and include my 996 Turbo as they have apparently done away with "agreed valuation" and now state if a total loss will be paid out against the current market price for a model of similar age and condition. Would save me £300.
Anyone got any views?

Would save you £ 300 in premium if you don’t need to claim so that sounds a decent amount to save.
However should the worse happen then how much hassle might you expect and indeed want and then value might you lose in them then settling your claim on a market value basis ?
On the other hand if your 996 is “ only “ average then that might make the decision easier.

This was always my view when insuring my 997 turbo. Yes, I could have insured it with one of the high street insurers and saved a few quid but I always wanted an agreed value and no issues if I had to claim. Instead I used one of the specialist, happily paying a bit more. That extra money was worth it alone just to be able to get through to a human being in seconds without having to go through dozens of options on an automated phone system.

hell no. a 996 turbo probably needs a specialist insurer, rather than a general insurer on a multicar policy.

a 996 turbo is probably a fairly valuable asset - i'd want an agreed value policy from someone who knows rare and performance cars. otherwise you might have an accident and find out that the 'market value' you're offered is half of what it would actually cost you to replace it.

Go with a multicar policy if you think you’ll enjoy insuring each car individually on the same day next year when they whack the premium up.

Wish I’d never gotten involved with multicar, much preferred it when I had them all spread throughout the year.

My nephew had a terrible experience with his BMW E46 325i Touring when he claimed in 2018.

I got hit by one of their Policyholders last year and their valuation of my car was insulting.

Based on that I'd insure anywhere else, especially for something special like a 996 Turbo!

Thanks everyone. I will keep it with a specialist.
