Another Noble noob for the forum, recently separated from 911 and not regretting it for a minute!

Not much else to say at this point except hello all and thanks for the info I've already trawled through in here.

Welcome to the Nobility 350plus!Hope your time with us is hair-raising and trouble free! Also be prepared for a new experience in people gwaping/taking photos (even whilst they are driving). Such is the charisma of the car. If you can get to Silverstone this weekend -you'll meet many of us there.

I know it'll be a strange concept, coming from a Porker, but when people stop at junctions when they have 'right of way', it really is to let you out.
Welcome to the Nobility.

Martin.

Thanks guys - I've had it for 10 days and I've already had people taking pics, sticking thumbs up and wanting to talk about it.

I was too late to get involved in the britcar parade but I had intended to take a jaunt up there anyway for the ride.

Unfortunately that isn't going to be possible as it simply died tonight on the way home.

Lets just say I'm not the happiest person in the world right now.

It had played up slightly from first thing.

Took three goes to start this morning but then drove 40 miles with no hint of a problem. Always started first time before.

Two attempts to start tonight and then started missing in a queue for traffic lights coming out of town. Couldn't catch it and it died after about 10 secs of threatening to, but started again immediately.

Drove 40 miles home and it simply died as I was putting it away. No missing or warning of any kind and I didn't stall it.

Wouldn't so much as cough then or half an hour later.

Anyone going to tell me to look under the front clam and simply plug a wire back in - pleeeasse?

Were you in heavy rain tonight - something may have gotten wet?
What fuel do you put in it?
Is it overdue for a service?
What model is it (some of the early 2.5s had a fussy map)?

Maybe get the AA out 1st thing - something may come to light and/or might cure itself?!

Hope you can make it to say hello at Britcar!

Hi - sorry I should have said, it's an 03 m12 3R.

I'm sure that the concrete A12 is going to make me go deaf unless I dig out some earplugs, but up until tonight I've been having a ball in it.

I'm not used to people pulling out of my way all the time, even if some of them only do it to get a better look!

I saw that there were a few of you around when I was going through the posts, although I have never actually spotted another one around here myself.

Hi there!

Haven't seen any rain here I'm afraid.

It drinks optimax and texaco sul. The last fill up was texaco and I did wonder but it is a station I have used for years with no probs and and in any case I had done over 60 miles the day before on that tankful.

It was serviced at the factory 1000 miles ago

It is a 3R and apologies for not saying that straight out in my original post.

It's under warranty so I will be making a call in the morning.

I don't think it is going to cure itself, it is like something which was only bad enough to affect small throttle openings/low revs situations which suddenly got a whole lot worse.

I looked under the clam to see if anything had fallen off but I couldn't see anything obvious. Trouble is I haven't had it long enough to get used to how it looks in there.

I appreciate the interest you guys are taking BTW

You get used to the A12 road noise. It's the only car I've ever had that lets me make good progress along it.

As for your problems it's going to be fuel or electronics. Certainly doesn't sound mechanical. Does the fuel pump still prime when you turn the key? It's just by the passenger rear air inlet low down behind the door.

I assume it turns over OK?

I once had a Supra TT which wasn't much better for noise on that road and it didn't have the excuse of lightweight construction:-)

The pump sounds like it is doing its stuff but there doesn't seem to be much of a petrol smell for a car which has been spun over so much - bit hard to tell against the usual background of fumes!

The way it just died like it had been switched off kind of makes me think electrical but I'm not a mechanic.

I was rather hoping I was just going to find a hose had come off but no such luck.

At least I have been able to discuss it a bit on here which has made me feel a bit better. The engine didn't make any tinkly sounds so whatever it is it can't be too bad I hope.

Bit tough to explain to the other half how the car you have recently claimed to be the ultimate this and the unbeatable that is looking a bit forlorn now.

Sounds like an easy fix anyhow. Where abouts in Essex are you? If you're south Roush are a good bet. If they can't fix it no one can (as they did lots of the engine development).

Come along to the next Essex meet (weather and free weekends permitting). Nice way of learning about the car and usually involves a gentle drive through the countryside, which is fun in a Noble convoy.

I'll definitely make an effort to come along to the next meet and I'll look forward to a gentle drive through the countryside - a Noble convoy must arouse quite a bit of interest judging by the effect just one has.

Just seem this post. Paul (Cundy) hada a problem with crap in his fuel. It might be worth whipping the filter off and cleaning it out. HTH.

Welcome to the club 350plus from another Essex (Little Baddow) owner. Had mine 7 weeks now so no expert, but you will find this forum incredibly useful, and thankfully in my case it seems to suffer fools gladly as well!
Whereabouts are you?

Hi Martin,

It is fuel I think, the pump is priming but there is absolutely no petrol smell coming out of the tailpipes when it is cranked.

I've made arrangements to have it picked up now so I don't think it is fair to mess with it. If I had known where the filter was I would have taken a look though :-)

Hi there sjc,

I work in Chelmsford so I'm not that far from you.

This forum has already been very helpful to me and saved me asking a few noob questions, which is always a good thing.

I'm looking forward to meeting some other members of the Nobility soon.

I'm pleased to say that my present little difficutly hasn't put me off although I was pretty hacked off with it yesterday.

I'm actually a bit frustrated that I haven't had my first opportunity to take it out in the rain. I'm guessing it is going to be a bit of a handful but that's all part of the fun.
