Hi guy's,
Looking for a wee bit of help and advice if possible. I have been contemplating swapping out the OE head unit for an android one, several manufacturers to choose from Joying, Eonon etc and not decided which one yet, my question is will I need an ISO adapter to be fitted between the car and head unit?
All the vids that I've been watching on installing after market radios have an excessive amount of wires that need connecting to God knows where.
As far as I can make out the Monaro just has one plug at the rear of the radio that clips into the power/speaker housing (male to female I'm guessing)
So before I break out the soldering iron thought it best to ask for advice.
TIA

As far as I can remember, I used 2 adaptor looms, one for the steering wheel controls and one for the standard connections.
No soldering iron or cutting of wires was required smile
I seem to remember possibly having to swap a pair of wires though. The permanent live and switch live maybe.

Yep. Looks about right. Then you need to purchase the appropriate patch lead to allow the SWC to work.

It will depend on the make of headunit you choose, but essentially yes.
Plug and play. The hardest part will be messing about with the facia and getting the unit to sit nicely within the dash.

Have you read the FAQ ? Lots of info in there. I changed to a Kenwood unit some time ago.

Anyone know if the Monaro uses Fakra connectors for the twin aerials.
I'm hopefully trying to source a splitter cable as my new Android device has only one aerial imput.
All the adapters that I see for sale are Fakra a to DIN.

Thank you for that, I purchased an adapter and tied into the black aerial cable, not a brilliant reception but it does work.

For anyone interested in installing an aftermarket Android device here are a couple of photo's.
The Ro now has internet (Google, YouTube etc) hands free phone, navigation (Google maps, Waze etc) music (via Spotify) live vehicle telematics via the Bluetooth OBD2 device, reverse camera etc.
I have lost the use of the cup holders however I have never used them in the 18 years that I've had the car so no great loss.

All in all I'm extremely happy with the upgrade. Plus for the money, £140 for the unit, rear camera and OBD2 plus £20 for the new "cage" and facia adapter, couple of £'s for the aerial adapter and scotch blocks it wasn't too expensive.

Do your knuckles hit the screen going in to 1st, 3rd or 5th ?

They did at first but now I've got used to it no accidental touching of the screen.
Eonon also does a 9" flush fitting screen, all that is needed is an aftermarket facia surround. I purchased one from IncarTech
( Vauxhall/Opel Monaro Double DIN car audio fascia adapter panel
50-721) £25 including the brackets to allow fitment of the unit.
