Anyone else noticed that the service is certainly getting worse ?
Some days no service for letters or parcels .
Get notifications of deliveries due but they don't turn up and the tracking system is a shambles.

It’s weird, we rarely get post now, not sure if this is they way things are heading or the postie is eating it

They've been awful for a long time and getting worse continually. I recently had a parcel delivery attempt while I was out, so they left a note saying that I had to collect from the delivery office the next day, a Saturday. So I went along at midday to get my parcel, only to discover that there is a one-hour window from 8am to 9am on a Saturday when you can collect your parcel. If you don't turn up during that window, you have to wait until the following week. They won't serve you even though staff are there twiddling their thumbs. Absolutely appalling customer service.

I imagine it’s hard to keep things ticking over now the post is rarely used

My folks used to get loads of mail a day, I rarely get more than one letter a week

That said, receiving a parcel as a kid was a big deal, now it’s a regular thing

I blame trump

Where I live they've been pretty good until this week when they've missed two parcel collections.

I also have a rental flat in a neighbouring town, they're bloody awful there. I've been going there regularly this month to decorate it's become apparent that they only seem to deliver once or twice a week and put all post for our small block through my letter box.

Ah yes I’ve forgotten that trick, when I lived in a flat theyd poke the other 8 addresses through my door (or some one else’s) and then expect them to distribute it

Trouble for many was I’d often be away for months at a time

No complaints about RM here.
Often go above and beyond to deliver a letter or parcel. One today had to be signed for, Postie opened the front door and popped it in the porch, signed for it and took a pic., just as my son came hurting out of his on-line uni lesson to get it.
Top guy or Postie. If we're not in he'll drop a parcel into the garage or the polytunnel until it blew away.

I’ve not seen the same postman for more than a few days at a time

Or the local policemen since the fields were built on

Different times

We had a new postie around six months ago. She is utterly hopeless, and seems to have no respect for her customers' mail. She won't bother ringing the doorbell if something won't fit - it'll either be forced through or left outside, regardless of the weather. Small items like letters from the hospital/bank/etc are regularly folded up once or twice and shoved in the letterbox and not pushed through properly; they get creased and crumpled, and further damaged when I extricate from the letterbox.

Of course, finding a working email address to complain seems impossible, and I'd probably get fobbed off if I wrote a letter. I have thought about setting up a camera to record video footage, but then I'd somehow have to transmit that to RM, where no doubt if would get lost or be barred by their network firewall.

I don't know for definite, but it appears as if there are no longer deliveries every day.

No complaints with any delivery service around here. RM tracked parcels are notified correctly and I have the option of having them delivered to a nearby Post Office if I'm not going to be in (which always happens without any issues). Amazon and other couriers always turn up when they should and seem to have regular rounds so I know quite a few friendly faces.

Same here, awful. No letters for weeks on end then a shed load arrive.

Go and get an envelope with a blank piece of paper in it. Now go to your letterbox and try to put it through without folding it.

There was a very damning program about Royal Mail on BBC1 last night.

"Royal Mail: Where’s My Post? – Panorama"

It's probably available on iPlayer.

It was in our town, Winsford. The service has been rubbish for 2+ years now. We've gone 2 weeks without post numerous times because of holidays or illness and where they've had no cover and been told to go and collect from the sorting office more recently, albeit they are only open 8am-10am.

My wife now insists that for any online purchases the supplier either uses another service (other than RM) or simply won't complete a purchase.

Quite stark but one too many failures with RM have coloured her view.

We still get post and small packets, seemingly on time - but the overall service is now far less regular than in previous years.

Our postie is excellent. We hardly get letters as everything is online these days, and any parcels are delivered on time, and if we are out they try their best to tuck it away somewhere safe and dry.

No issues for me

I generally avoid RM when sending or ordering parcels in preference to DPD who have always been excellent, but our local postie is first class (sorry); he is unfailingly cheery and always gives great service, leaving parcels round the back covered with a plastic box, and more often than not with a dog treat sitting on the top for our dog. You don’t get many people who give a st nowadays, so it’s refreshing.
