Booked two tickets to South Korea yesterday and luckily I took a screen shot of the itinerary as nothing showed up via E mail or message after the booking. Today, my wife received a phone call, telling us we hadn’t booked any luggage and the return flight from Heathrow to Newcastle didn’t exist, even though it shows on the itinery. Unfortunately there was no way of adding luggage when we booked as we tried everything to find out the allowances. Thankfully I paid using my credit card and I’m about to ring back asking for a refund as I think the web site is set up deliberately to get you to book first before they inform you of the extra costs for adding luggage and also changing the flying schedule. Am I within my rights to do so and if not can I claim back through the credit card if they refuse? Company are called Flightmover and I forgot to really do enough due diligence as the Google reviews aren’t that great, so my bad.

Many/most agents offer 24hrs to cancel, regardless of ticket flexibility so I'd be straight on the case with that before anything else.

Not really sure how a credit card charge back would work in this case but someone else will probably be able to advise on that.

Even more concerned now. I rang them with the reference number and told them I’d like to cancel the booking for the aforementioned reasons and the guy on the end of the phone said he’d get a “concerned person” to ring me back. Now the guys Asian so I assume that’s the reason for the weird English, but that was an hour ago and still nothing.

Their Google reviews are hideously bad. I would suggest you are unlikely to get a decent response from them, in which case get onto your credit card company quick and seek resolution that way.

In future, I would stick to booking direct with airlines or via one of the big name established online agents, if I were you.

Sounds like you didn't make a booking, you made a booking request. You're now finding out that they gave the details of probably the cheapest flight irrespective of whether it existed in the real world. Your card probably hasn't actually been charged, but a hold put on it.

I’ll take a trip to my Lloyds bank tomorrow and hopefully sort it out as the payment is showing on my credit card statement.

I rang them at five and the call was answered telling me they’d ring back, but after an hour nothing heard.

In my experience the phrase 'We'll call you back' often means 'We won't call you back'. That said, companies are staffed by humans so give them a day at least, then go back in.

Just call them... branches are fairly useless these days.

Credit card company will not be interested until you have exhausted the supplier refund process. Get onto them asap and go from there.

Agree. Sadly the days of branches being staffed with one of every type of specialist is long gone.
It’s all centralised now and contact is via the call centres.

The branches are nothing more than a counter service for the people who do not wish to use the online tools, which is why they close when that footfall drops off a cliff.

baggage is fair game these days - most headline flight prices don't include it, you can add it direct with the airline at the airport if you want.

booking you on a flight that doesn't exist is another matter - I suspect they haven't done this deliberately (its a really expensive way of doing business) - just ring them up and tell them you want to cancel the whole lot. The transaction will be showing as an authorisation on your CC bill (pending) but is unlikely to be a submission yet, so nothing the bank can do until the agents submit a final transaction to them, which they'd be daft to do if they can't fulfil the flights

Sorry OP but a classic example of why I don’t buy flights through a 3rd party website.

I'm baffled why anyone would book like this.

It screams trouble.

I guess it's why scammers exist, gullible people.

Sorry OP this isn't personal but just seems an incredibly stupid thing to do.

Any site with "Great and cheap deals - Morbi semper fames lobortis ac hac penatibus" on their home page...

Spoke to the bank and unfortunately it’s a legitimate company and by proceeding I agreed to their terms and conditions. Even though the credit card payment is still pending they can’t stop the payment. Basically if I cancel I could lose the lot, so advised to work with them on the baggage and return flight issues. I’ve now started sending E mails so I have a trail, but as expected no reply yet.

This is the third year I’ve booked for South Korea (kids and grand kids live there) and both previous years I did exactly the same, i.e. search for flights on specific dates through google and a list produced with prices and companies. The one I selected wasn’t even the cheapest as it was listed as the best, due to cost and flight times. The only flag that appeared was not being able to check the baggage allowance, as the actual price (£1,768 for myself and wife) is only a couple of hundred quid cheaper than through the airlines direct. I suppose by the time I’ve paid the extra baggage I’ll be paying the normal price and possibly a little more, so just have to wait and see. Obviously, if the tickets turn out to be false, or they can’t fulfill the return flight within a certain time I can claim back on the credit card through “not as described” time will tell.

Call the bank back tell them you are a victim of fraud which you are. They have taken money for something that doesnt exist.

Something similar happened to me recently, spoke to fraud dept they refunded me the money but didnt go after the company to get it back , i got the feeling they couldnt be bothered .
