Brake fluid on alloys ?

I've had some new discs & pads fitted & have noticed what look like "runs" in the alloys, that wont clean off.

I'm going to let the valeter have a go at them but dont hold out much hope.

The alloys weren't in the best of condition & I was going to get them re coated anyway.

Has anyone else had it happen ?

I'm more concerned about the new wheels suffering the same problem.

Had that prob with my mpv garage said
once its under the coating, its a pain to get out.

You said your wheels have chips & scratches,
thats how the fluid gets in. Leave em dirty, or use it as an excuse to get a new set of spiders

I thought that TVR alloys are just painted (unless specially poliched or whatever), so just have them refurbed?

Are you sure that the staining on the wheels is break fluid? as its virtually colourless
Reason for saying is that we have just had our car serviced, and after the long journey home, the wheels were in hell of as mess, i just couldn't shift it, so i had to take every wheel off, and clean of the sit with petrol, The Sit in question being Copper slip Grease, that the fitter had put around my wheel nuts.

Call me sad but I take my wheels off to clean them every other wash. I have the copper grease stuff Dave is talking about all round the wheels too!

Ta everyone, I'll try the petrol but as I say I was going to have them re powder coated anyway. Theres a place in Brum that charge £100 for all four wheels (last time I checked)

I was interested to find the answer as I didn't want to have them refurbed every time I broke (braked, whatever)

You can buy plastic shields that cover the front disc incuding the brake assembley so no brake dust is deposited on the rims.I guess they probably restrict cooling so wouldnt use them for track days , but for regular ( regular TVR driving I mean !) they are fine.
