Just picked up my brand new T350 this afternoon, after leaving my baby with the dealer.
All those thoughts of i hope this one is as reliable as the other and i have no problems.

Spoke to soon, i'd just left the dealer 1/2 mile or so, and i can smell smoke, maybe its outside i think, few hundred yards later, its even stronger, turn up the fan and smoke comes into the cabin - HOLEY SH*T, so i pull over, what do i see thro' one of the holes in top of the bonnet - FLAMES. :yikes:
Panic is not the word, i couldnt get the bonnet up fumbling around dropped the phone whilst tryin to phone dealer.
Eventually i get the bonnet up and can see a rag in between the manifold and the heatshield on fire, still didnt know what to do until i realised i had a bottle of ribena in the car and doused it with that.

Fire out, dealer arrives in a van and pulls out the valeters polishing cloth, god he was so embarrased. I was lucky no damage but i could smell it all the way home.

hope thats not a bad omen, cos the car drives brilliantly, so supple in comparison but very hard to keep below 3k whilst not letting the engine labour especially on hills.

Well even though ive had the same model for the last 18 months im still really excited, infact i think i'll go have another look at her :D

Nick,

Perhaps a valet would be in order to get rid of the smoke? And steam cleaning the engine bay to ensure there is no smoke marks

O dear Ive been there.
I have to hand dry my car every time I wash it because of the hard water in my area.
Anyway while drying it of with kitchen paper the cardboard center tube had fallen throw the bonnet vent and onto the manifold.
Half an hour later while sitting in the driveway waiting for the engine to warm up FK smoke comes pouring out of the bonnet vents.
Ran into house like a headless chicken and managed to chuck a few kettle fulls of water on it.
Lucky no damage to the car but my underpants were in a sorry state.

I have one of these sown into the carpet just in front of me.

May have a use for it one day.
