My son chanced upon this risky driver last night who did a bad overtake, at night, in a built up area. It forced an oncoming car to do an emergency stop.

I was in the car but did not get the reg, just that it is a Blue Nissan Juke, and I think a 65 plate. Third to last digit looked like an 'S'.

It then did an other overtake in a similar way, then pulled through a petrol station at speed to avoid red traffic lights. A proper plonker.

I was confident that I could get reg plate from the dash cam, but I cannot make it out. My guesses on DVLA website have all been wrong too.

Anyone fancy a lunch time challenge!?

It can be much easier to work out from the footage rather than stills - are you able to post a short clip?

Forward it to one of the police procedural dramas where they can just break all the laws of technology and get a clear image just by cropping, zooming and saying "Enhance". Failing that it's just a smudge of dark grey on yellow on my screen.

DP65SVY is a blue Juke.

When you have Keratoconus, guessing blurry letters is a well-developed skill smile

My guess was dp65 sxy so yeah... sounds about right.

Unusual for jukes to be driven in a nobbish fashion, but there's a first time for everything

Mine too but then I realised the DVLA probably didn't want to go there....

Heh. It's definitely not unusual for them to be driven badly, I'd agree that you don't see them driven aggressively much.

Thanks everyone.

It was weird as although the driver was careering around traffic causing mayhem....they did use their indicators very well!

My guess looking at that over take and from your description is there was an emergency (or a perceived one) as they clearly don't know the first thing about driving but would be off the road by now in a ditch if they drove like this at all regularly.

(I don't say that to excuse them)

I would agree. It was not a medical emergency though as they passed a hospital when they were following us. Driving was not typical racing, but deliberate overtakes done dangerously.

It will go there, I'd a car with SXY as the last 3 letters of its reg.

OP, now you have the reg, what do you intend to do with this information?

It’s not a clear enough photo for the police to do anything with.

Nowt. I wanted to check if it was insured as driving like that is concerning but as I said very strange. They were polite with indicators, but causing oncoming cars to brake not good.

I use the route regularly so we will know for sure if we encounter it again, or find it in a ditch.
