a sort of reverse 'blast from the past'... If somebody from the 1970's woke up today what would surprise them the most?

No Moonbse Alpha?
No flying cars?
No USSR?

Have at it...

Yep.

Video calls
Internet
Email
Plus everything else

Even the fact they're cordless phones.

Then I'd show them something like the Shazam app to blow their minds. hehe

If I think about my childhood in the late 70s and early 80s. There's the obvious stuff like fashion, everything seemed to be brown in the 70s, although I wonder if they'd wonder why everything is grey now.

I think fundamentally it would be the speed of life, you can look at the way people dress and think, "I was expecting spacesuits, but it's mostly just the same but different cuts and colours". Cars are quieter, but far bigger, but they're still cars. Smartphones, in fact flat screens everywhere, but it's still moving pictures on a screen.

I think if I was woken today after 40-50 years in a coma, it would be the number of people about, the pace everyone goes at and the noise.

Petrol being nearly £1.50/gallon.

No, sorry Mr 1970’s man, that’s per litre and there’s a few of them in a gallon.
