Pedal adjustment

Bit of help please guys...

Been fiddling with pedals this morning - they're a bit low in the footwell for me. Clutch and brake, no problem. Accelerator no luck. The bible says there's an adjustment by moving the cable end plate, undo two nuts, move bolts in slotted holes etc. Can't find that for toffee - the plate looks welded on to the larger pedal box plate and that's end of story.

Does anyone know if this detail changed on later cars (mine's a 2001 last facelift car), or are they all adjustable and I'm just not seeing it? Also, looked at Leven kits - is there a simple one which will allow the accelerator pedal to be adjustable like the other two?

Have fitted the Leven kit with throttle height adjustment and have achieved a comfortable set up... worth doing but fiddly (nothing to do with the Leven bits but the lack of easy access for any 'proper' sized human!)

From memory, I think my cable plate did have some abilty to be moved around (I guess you could call this 'adjustability') but, in practice, it seemed to have just one location where it would work without causing all sorts of cable fouling and binding problems. Even after quite a bit of fettling, I have more slack in the cable than I would like and no adjustment range left to remove this (not a problem in reality as the 'weight' of the pedal uses the cable slack up). I did mean to get a better quality (and heavier) cable made up to correct this but never got round to it.

In summary the Leven stuff certainly improves things no-end but the basic design and, more tellingly, execution of it is pretty poor as a starting point. The access issue just means it's a PITA to work on although a decent fabricator would probably sort things out PDQ if determined. Good luck

Did the Leven kit make the throttle pedal adjustable like the other two? If so, which kit did you have - there seem to be loads to choose from.

Know what you mean about access - have a stif neck just from looking to try and see how the throttle assembly works!

Yep, exactly the same principle and involves changing the pivot/arm for one provided by Leven in the kit. I remember the options not being as clearly set out as they might be so suggest you give them a ring as they'll knew exactly what you want/need. There are variations on the pedal widths for the throttle and the thread sizes for the clutch and brake (so it helps if you know what your existing threads are before ordering).

Seem to recall the absolute hardest part of the job was separating the original arm from the cable nipple (without destroying eiher)
