My wife and I have recently bought 2 ebikes and we want a tow bar mounted rack but being electric the two bikes weigh a total of 50kg. Can anyone recommend a suitable rack?

I have a Eufab rack which will take 60kg. German engineering!

As I can’t manage to lift my bikes I have this one

Absolutely solid and worth the price.

Thanks for your recommendations but I've done some research and this seems to fit the bill

We put two e-bikes on a Thule Velocompact 2; this has a max of 46kg however our Canyons are just under 20kg each with the batteries removed. The Velocompact is great as it collapses down - I can even get it into the boot of my SL.

Been using it on this car and previously all over Europe no problems at all.

I’ve just bought the three bike version and am really pleased with it so far; good value and very solid.

Third recommendation for the Buzz E Scorpion

Been through numerous racks over the years but when I bought my latest bike the wheelbase was too long for the ones I had. Really impressed by how easy the Buzz rack is to fit (less than a minute), the way it pivots to allow access to the boot for the stuff I inevitably forget to pack until after I’ve loaded the bike and how easily it folds up to fit into the boot so that I’m not worried about some scrote nicking it while I’m on my ride…

Fair comment. The link is for their 2 bike 60kg carrier at £432 but what comes if you click it a a £178 version with a 30kg load. I ordered the right one at the weekend but they're out of stock and upgraded the order to a more expensive 3 bike unit for the same price.

Thread resurrection

The buzzrack scorpion 2 looks good as you can strap both sides of the front wheel to stop it swaying - must help when making progress.

Thoughts?

I only need it for 2 pedal bikes.

Only having one fixation point per where with (say) the Thule towbar rack is absolutely not an issue.

The plastic wheel straps are on a ratchet and go as tight as you need.

I have been delighted with mine.

Ok, many thanks. It was just that I’m used to trying to restrain them on the roof version.

Just to give my 2p on this, I've had a Halfords advanced 2 bike rack for a year or so and have got on great with that.
It's not quite as quick for mounting onto the tow ball as a lever clamp that some racks have, but I've been happy with it. Weight of it has been ok for hanging it on a wall hook in the garage as well if that's a consideration at all.

I've also got one of the Buzz racks, Eazzy I think it's the model.

Highly recommended , and worth getting a tilting one so you can access the boot.
