I'm being bundled off to the other side of the world for a week of work soonish, and am flying with Qatar via Doha. It's business class but their website shows the carry-on bag size as max 50cm which is 5cm shorter than the 'standard' TSA and everyone-but-ryanair size.
This is rather inconvenient as my trusty Peli case is exactly TSA size, give or take a few MM.

I'm assuming I have a certain amount of 'yes sir, three bags full sir' in business class but I want to avoid a "that's going in the fking hold mate" situation.

Anyone flown Qatar with mildly oversized baggage?

Anyone able to type Qatar without having to go back and take the u out?

I flew with them from Dublin to Singapore last October with my Away 'Bigger Carry-On'. The quoted size is: Exterior measurements 57.7 cm x 39.2 cm x 24.4 cm.

I also took a 44 x 31 x 25 cm backpack.

No questions asked. There was plenty of space in the overhead bins to go around in the business cabins and my case fitted in easily.

They will not take a blind bit of notice in BC unless your bag is well over size. Not a couple of inches.

Lovely. It does seem odd they they're the only proper long haul operator with a smaller bag size. I'll take the usual one and hopefully it'll be fine.

We've had hold bags delayed or go missing a few times on work trips recently that have really cocked things up so the boss is keen to have everyone travel with just carry on. To be honest, looking at what I'm taking, I think the carry on weight is going to be more of an issue. My regular day to day work bag is the best part of 8kg by itself.

With fewer seats in business class, plus its 2 carry ons, there’s always loads of overhead bin space

I’ve been sat in business on a Qatar flight and watched them load a Ferrari into the hold right under me.
I don’t think being five cm over on your cabin bag will worry them.

Yes, I wasn't thinking there'd be a problem getting them into the cabin, I was more concerned that there'd be some humourless tt in the airport pointing glumly at a Ryanair style bag size checker before we get to the gate. I'm used to the tsa gleefully finding any excuse they can to ruin my week, so I'm a bit wary generally.

I fly extensively with Qatar, never had anyone challenge my hand baggage at any of the check in airports (normally have a roller case and backpack) I am one of the few people who doesn’t like the QSuite and prefer the herringbone layout in the A380.

I have heard some reports saying enclosed ‘suites’ are a bit lonely and they prefer a more open layout so you’re not on your own.
