Noticed a week or so ago that 1st gear was getting harder to select, and progressively got worse & worse, to the point that just now it nearly impossible to get any gear at all.
I assume, being non mechanically minded whatsoever, that this is the clutch
Anyway........ Having done a quick search I see that from a dealer these are about £800 inc. vat for a replacement, however was wondering whether there is anywhere else to have it done.
Also, would a warranty cover this work, or would it be classed as general wear & tear, as the car is coming up to 20,000 miles ?
Any advise would be appreciated.

If it's only one gear then I'd probably suggest it was the syncromesh and not the clutch. However as it appears to eefect all the gears it could be the clutch or the gearbox itself.
The clutch may seem expensive, but a gearbox rebuild can be very expensive.... sorry

Had to drive home about 2 miles in 2nd gear. Was all fine until I came to a roundabout on a slight upward hill, with about 10 cars in front of me.
Was making very pungent smells (the car, not me).
Will still go into gear, but will an almight shove.
Local dealer is Harrogate, who have undertaken all previous works, so will give them a call monday & see what they say. Was just wondering if indi's could do it 'considerably' cheaper.
Would this work be covered by a warranty ? I automatically assumed not, but was just guessing.

Hard luck on the clutch. How does your fluid look? I was thinking it might just be the cylinder(s), but you mention smoky smellings too so I guess its the friction plate.
I'm sure a decent indie could do this for less than a main stealer darn sarth. Not sure about oop north, might be no more due to decent dealer prices in the first place.

It can be the locknut on the linkage behind the clutch pedal in the footwell which has come loose. This allows the adjustment to go out and difficulty in get a gear. I was told this by my dealer that they had seen this a few times. If not then the clutch plate has worn and will require replacing.

It cost me just over £700 to have the slave cylinder replaced at Harrogate, so with the cost of the clutch as well I guess you are looking at about a grand. You might save a couple of hundred going with an indie.
From what I gather it's the release fingers on the pressure plate that actually snap so your warranty should cough up. I know others have managed to get claims paid.
If it is the same clutch as on my Tuscan, there is good news and bad news.
The bad news in, the symptoms are the same as mine, especially if the problem has progressively got worse over the last weeks/months.
Basically at circa 20,000 miles the metal springs fracture and break until there are none left to open the clutch. The good news is that this is definately a failure NOT wear and tear. The warranty company paid in full for the repair, although they did send someone out to make sure that it was not merely worn!
Hope this help. Nag the warranty company and explain the problem is due to failure, not wear.

Left stranded today for first time in 11 months with T350 by what seems like clutch failure.
Symptoms were shudder on take-off and screeching sound while driving, leading to complete inability to select any gear and loss of all pedal pressure. For good measure I also got the Brake Fluid warning and when lifted onto the flatbed there was a reasonable amount of fluid underneath. Smelt pretty rotten too !
I had felt some resistance in the pedal in previous months but it seemed to come and go and check at 24,000 mile service indicated no problems. Today 30 minutes of driving in city traffic resulted in failure.
Does this sound familiar to anyone and is there any view on likely cause / cure ?

That will be the slave cylinder seals gone. The change in clutch pedal resistance is often the first symptom as this occures when the slave cylinder/piston become scored, this can come & go as the piston rotates in the cylinder.Eventually the seals go and you loose the hydraulic fluid.
TVR Clutches are all the same now. They are all double plate AP racing type.
The Cerbera a few weeks back decided to expel all its clutch fingers and leave me 10 miles from home. I waited until the end of the rush hor and drove it home, matching the revs and speed.
Got my hands on a clutch and changed it myself. It took 8 hours but saved me a few bob! TVR Craft are now doing recon clutches for £395, maybe worth a call?

Did you have much trouble replacing the Clutch ? I ask because the guy replacing mine - who really knows his stuff on rally / race cars - has had terrible trouble getting it to work properly. Clutch works properly when driving but when stopped and idling it can refuse to engage and then (this is the scary bit) slip into first with no clutch pressure.
There seems to be an ongoing issue for Clutch replacement on T350 based on the feedback he has got from some dealers. Sound familiar to anyone ?
BTW, my problem was all clutch fingers being broken - at 26k miles ! There must be some kind of weakness here especially as a look at the clutch didn't reveal any other signs of wear / abuse.

The other bad news is that you can't get a new clutch.

My local TVR indie speculated that AP were not supplying this clutch at present because they 'might' be working on a fix to make them more reliable..

After all 20K for a clutch is rubbish..
I put some feelers out and heard that the exact same clutch is being fitted to the Aston Martin V8 (this is unconfirmed). This could explain supply issue (although so might TVR not paying AP on time) but it would certainly indicate that the installation is what causes the premature failure on TVRs rather than the integrity of the clutch itself.
All of this is consistent with what I am being told by my Dealer. Apparently AP are not releasing stock because of the problems people are having with that particular model. The Clutch in my T350 gave up on Wednesday, just hope this gets resolved quickly.
Surely there must be comparable clutches that fit from other manufacturers? I cant believe that TVR commisioned this from them, if they did then that is just asking for trouble isnt it? Are we running with V1.0 clutches or something???
The clutch is not your usual diaphram jobbie..
It's a twin plate job with the slave in the centre of the clutch
- basically a race clutch.
Some people seem to have had problems with the fingers breaking before the friction material is completely worn down - maybe the hold the clutch for long periods in traffic and get xs wear from the bearing .. who knows.
I'm sure a company like AP needs to get to the bottom of this.
The sp 6 and cerb v8 have both used this for a good many years and I've not heard of this being an issue until now - so this is all very strange.
