Are you sure you're on the same desktop? You can run multiple desktops on a Mac.

If Mac OS has been updated (usually at night), it's entirely possible that the desktop wallpaper will revert to a default Apple image.

As long as you know the name of the wallpaper, you can search for it, and reinstate it in System Prefs/Settings > Desktop & Screen Saver > Change picture.

When you find the logo save it somewhere easy to find and email it to yourself as well.
