Still having problems with the car randomly cutting out.
On trying to restart the engine will run with the key left in the cranking position. Once the key is released the engine stalls.
Removed the positive wire from the coil and connected a suitable wire from the positive on the battery to the positive side of the coil and tried a re start. Same thing happens, starts until the key is released.
So, this would suggest that it's not the ignition switch as first thought ?
The fuel pump was running the whole time ( it runs constantly with the ignition on for some reason :confused: )
Could this be a dizzy problem ? ? ?

The 2.8 fuel pump will run constantly with the ignition switch if the stall switch is disconnected. this kills the ignition in a "stall situation" and is bypassed whnt he engine is cranking.
Check this is still connected, (2pin, green plug going to the air flapper/bowl end of the fuel meter), if it is check wiring etc etc.

Does the stall switch just stop the pump or does it stop the power to the dizzy too ?
On Tony's ( Uriel ) the pump was running all the time but the car would only start with the key in cranking position, even with a wire from the battery direct to the coil.
Would the flap being stuck down cause this problem or does the stall switch not effect the dizzy side of the igntion system at all .......... and I'm just grasping at very short straws

The three low tension wires going to the dizzy come directly from the "ECU" (over glorified ignition amplifier). The others are
white: power in from fuse box, and connected directly to coil feed (via ballast resistor)
red: 12v in via (fuel pump, i think) relay (item 57 in the wedge bible)
green: coil negative and tacho.
The stall switch closes a coil on one of the relays to earth.
I have an ignition circuit diagram as a pdf if anyone want it. Its one i drew up on CAD during the re-wire of my car as i was trying to figure out the logics of the three relays (items 27, 55, and 57 in the wedge bible, IIRC starter, main power and fuel pump respectively)
