Friend does freelance work in addition to paye work.

In year 1 they did a self assessment to register the extra freelance income. But then they registered as an English company and intended to raise a corporation tax return.

My view is they should have just stuck to self assessment - am I right?

Also is there a simple form to fill in to close the company and be done with it? Nothing has ever been filed against it.

Thanks

How are they operating? Do invoices come from Joe Bloggs or Joe Bloggs Ltd?

Well they have the company name at the top but money paid to personal account and the invoices have no company number or registered office address in them. They’re not vat registered.

Yes I think that is what they’ll have to do. Lot of paperwork to close something that never traded.

Ltd or Sole Trader it sounds like he needs to read up on the requirements for documents such as invoices.
